Public advisory: Highway 29 night time closure at Farrell Creek

Categories: BC, Hydroelectricity

Overnight road closures are expected on Highway 29 at Farrell Creek Bridge (about 15 kilometres east of Hudson’s Hope) from 9 pm to 4 am from April 3 to 7, 2022.

The closure is due to bridge construction as part of the highway realignment for the Site C project. The work is taking place at night to minimize the impact on drivers who travel between Hudson’s Hope and Fort St. John during the day. This work is weather dependent and may be deferred if needed.

Drivers needing to travel between Hudson’s Hope and Fort St John will need to take the alternate route via Highway 97 between Chetwynd and Dawson Creek, via Highway 97.

The Farrell Creek segment includes the realignment of two kilometres of Highway 29 and the construction of a two-lane, 411 metre bridge. This segment of the Highway 29 realignment is expected to be completed in 2022.

Drivers should visit drivebc.ca to confirm the date and location of the closures.
