International Vice President of IBEW Canada, Russ Shewchuk, attended the First Ministers’ Reception in Saskatoon on Sunday, June 1. Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe invited Shewchuk to represent the IBEW as a key voice in Canada’s energy and skilled trades sectors.

The event brought together provincial leaders and newly elected Prime Minister Mark Carney. Premier Moe and Prime Minister Carney focused their remarks on national building projects and future partnerships in energy production, energy security, and mining.

Shewchuk’s presence highlighted the IBEW’s role as Canada’s largest electrical industry stakeholder, representing workers across key energy sectors and leading in workforce training.

“I welcomed the chance to speak about the important role the IBEW will play in future energy projects and skilled training programs through our IBEW union training centres across Canada,” said Shewchuk.

The IBEW continues to support public and private investment in Canadian energy, while building a workforce ready for tomorrow’s demands.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Canada is the largest electrical industry stakeholder in Canada, representing nearly 70,000 skilled tradespeople across the electrical industry and related energy sectors, all vital to building and maintaining Canada’s infrastructure and powering its economy.
