Government’s Three-day return to office mandate

IBEW-FIOE 2228 Logo

Local 2228 opposes the recent decision by the Federal Government to increase the return to in office mandate to three days per week.

The Treasury Board Secretariate did not fulfill its obligation to consult with the bargaining agents. Instead the employer chose to surprise the unions with an updated mandate only after the information was “Leaked” to the media.

All of the bargaining agents, through the forum of the National Joint Council have asked repeatedly for months if there were any updates to the return to work or tele work mandate only to be told there were no imminent changes or announcements planned.

The lack of meaningful engagement by the employer is troubling to say the least and only stands to erode what little trust existed to begin with.

Local 2228 will voice it’s concerns and opposition to this unilateral move by the employer through the Nation Joint Council forum while we weigh our legal options.

If you are an IBEW member that is being effected by this updated in office mandate and have questions or concerns please contact the Local at office@ibew2228.ca
