Building Canada Together – A Canada Day Message from IBEW 993 Business Manager, Jim Bicknell

As we gather to celebrate Canada Day, I want to take a moment to reflect on what it means to be Canadian and what it means to be part of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 993.

Canada is being built with hard work, determination, and the belief that when we come together, we can create something better. From the infrastructure that powers our communities to the hospitals, schools, and public spaces that bring us together, the members of IBEW 993 have played a proud role in building this country from the ground up.

Being Canadian means more than just living within our borders. It means standing by one another in difficult times, lifting each other up, and facing the future with quiet strength and a steady hand. That spirit lives in every member of IBEW 993 who shows up each day to do their job with integrity, skill, and pride.

As a union, we share more than just a trade, we share common values, friendship, and a deep commitment to one another. There is a sense of camaraderie that makes us stronger, and it reflects the very best of what it means to be Canadian.

Canada Day is a chance to take stock of how far we’ve come, but also to look forward. With every new job, every apprentice we mentor, and every challenge we take on, we are shaping the future of our communities and our country.

Let’s move forward with a positive state of mind, knowing that as Canadians and as members of IBEW 993, we have what it takes to build a better tomorrow for future generations.
