Categories: IBEW, IBEW 2351, Newfoundland and Labrador, Ontario
The 2026 Skills Ontario Competition once again brought together some of the province’s top young talent in the skilled trades and technologies, welcoming more than 2,000 competitors to the Toronto Congress Centre for two days of high-level competition, hands-on demonstrations, and career exploration opportunities. Widely recognized as the largest skilled trade and technology competition in Canada, the annual event continues to showcase the importance of skilled trades education while connecting students and apprentices with industry leaders and employers.
This year’s Electrical Installations competition featured an impressive display of technical skill, precision, and professionalism from competitors across both the secondary and post-secondary divisions. The competition evaluates participants on their ability to complete complex electrical installation tasks aligned with industry standards across residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional settings.
First place winner of the Post-Secondary Electrical Installations competition Annie V (IBEW Local 105) will be representing Ontario at the National Skills Ontario Competition in Quebec City later this month. Annie V’s gold medal marks a particularly historic achievement, as she became the first woman to win the post-secondary electrical competition at Skills Ontario. Her accomplishment highlights the growing presence and success of women in the skilled trades and reflects the ongoing efforts across the industry to create more inclusive pathways into apprenticeship and construction careers. Congratulations Annie!
