President’s Award Winner 2023 – IBEW-FIOE 2228

Members of IBEW 2228,

It is with great pleasure that I announce Annie Godin as the winner of the 2023 President’s award for IBEW Local 2228.

Annie has been a member of our Local for more than 20 years. Since the start of her employment, she had been a regular attendee at meetings, asking many questions and encouraging others to do the same.

Annie was involved in the last National Steering Committee and then served on the Bargaining Team for the recent negotiations with the Treasury Board where she performed well in both roles. As the Quebec region had not much Union representation in recent years, Annie stepped up and was instrumental in the formation of the new Quebec Region Unit where she holds the role of Unit Chair. Annie has also been very active on many committees both representing Women and minorities.

In addition to all of this Annie has also recently agreed to take on the position of Chief Steward so she can continue to offer support to both her colleagues and all fellow members.

Annie, while I have sat with you on the National Steering Committee, I have never had the opportunity to be your colleague at your place of work. From what I do hear from your colleagues at Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), you are attentive, caring, trustworthy and you bring joy to the working days of your colleagues.
