This plan will create major opportunities for skilled union workers as Canada builds the grid of the future:

  • Canada plans to double electricity grid capacity by 2050.
  • More than 130,000 skilled workers will be needed, creating strong demand for IBEW members.
  • Major investments in transmission, generation, and grid modernization will support long-term union jobs.
  • New infrastructure projects will connect Canada’s power grids from coast to coast.
  • Expanded clean energy, manufacturing, and electrification programs will create work across multiple sectors.

IBEW members will play a key role in building Canada’s energy future – We’re ready to get to work!
