IBEW Local 2228 Seeking IFATSEA Delegate Nairobi, Kenya

The Executive Board of IBEW Local 2228 is seeking a member in good standing to attend the 54th General Assembly of the International Federation of Air Traffic Safety Electronics Associations (IFATSEA), to be held in Nairobi, Kenya, from 8 to 13 November 2026.

The Assembly will bring together Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel (ATSEP), regulators, Air Navigation Service Providers, and industry leaders from across IFATSEA’s four regions. The 53rd General Assembly in Cape Town, South Africa concluded under the theme “Addressing cyber threats against CNS/ATM systems through collaboration, training, system thinking, and data-driven decision-making”  a focus that is expected to carry forward and evolve in Nairobi alongside Africa Region priorities such as ATSEP recognition under ICAO Annex 1, modernization of CNS/ATM infrastructure, and workforce competency. The full Nairobi theme and detailed agenda will be communicated by IFATSEA in subsequent calling notices.

Who we are looking for

Applicants must be members in good standing with IBEW Local 2228. This is not a passive observer role. Ideal candidates should have working knowledge of Air Navigation Service Provider operations in both a technical and regulatory capacity, and must be subject matter experts prepared to actively contribute. Specifically, the selected delegate will be expected to:

  • Deliver a presentation in one or more of the Assembly’s sub-committees (see below);
  • Contribute substantively to panel discussions, working papers, and motions during the week;
  • Author a written report following the Assembly, suitable for publication to the Local 2228 membership and for the historical record.

Presentation and contribution areas include:

  • Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel (ATSEP) Training and Competence Sub-Committee
  • Future Systems and Air Traffic Management (ATM) Sub-Committee
  • Safety Sub-Committee
  • If applicable, the Women’s Sub-Committee

Topics aligned with the current direction of the Federation including OT cybersecurity for CNS/ATM, ATSEP licensing and recognition, signal jamming/spoofing mitigation, spectrum management, and data-driven safety performance are particularly encouraged.
