As Denver’s population grows, Denver International Airport (DEN) plays a key role in supporting the city’s expansion. Serving approximately 80 million passengers annually, DEN ranks as the sixth busiest airport worldwide, blending cutting-edge design with Denver’s unique character. More than just a travel hub, the airport is a crossroads of cultures and industries, a gateway for travelers and commerce alike.

Since the airport’s inception, the NECA/IBEW team has been integral to its construction and modernization, ensuring that DEN remains equipped to meet the needs of its passengers. Currently, DEN is undergoing a multi-billion dollar renovation that includes a major concourse expansion, and upgrades to the United Airlines Club Lounges. Leading the way in these updates, the NECA/IBEW team exemplifies both expertise and a commitment to excellence.

As part of this significant project, NECA Contractor Sturgeon Electric and IBEW Local 68 are transforming the United Club into a larger, more advanced facility. The remodel will create a state-of-the-art, 35,000-square-foot space designed to enhance the passenger experience. Expected to span two years, the project includes the installation of complex telecommunications infrastructure, with electrical systems set up for IT rooms on the Club’s fourth floor. Sturgeon’s skilled union electricians are essential to the integrity of the airport’s electrical systems, ensuring that all installations meet the highest standards for quality and safety.

The collaboration between NECA and IBEW on this project highlights the strength of skilled labor partnerships in developing essential infrastructure. As Denver International Airport continues to evolve, the contributions of contractors like Sturgeon and IBEW Local 68 remain critical to maintaining an infrastructure that supports millions of travelers each year. Stay tuned for more updates as this impressive project progresses, marking another milestone in Denver’s growth and innovation.
