On June 17, 1958, 18 ironworkers lost their lives when the Second Narrows Bridge collapsed while under construction. Later, a diver working to recover bodies drowned, bringing the total fatalities for the collapse to 19.
Each year we pay our respects to those workers who lost their lives on the job.
On Saturday, June 17 Ironworkers Local 97 will host a memorial commemorating the 65th anniversary of the tragedy.
