Public advisory: Public comment period begins December 10 for EAC amendment to relocate boat launch

Categories: BC, Hydroelectricity

A public comment period will take place from December 10, 2021, to January 14, 2022, regarding BC Hydro’s application to amend its Environmental Assessment Certificate for the Site C project.

The application to the B.C. Environmental Assessment Office focuses on relocating the proposed Cache Creek boat launch and day use area to a location east of the Halfway River, due to site challenges at the Cache Creek location, including steep access.

The new proposed location near Halfway River is preferred because of its proximity to the existing Halfway River boat launch. This location also has good access from Highway 29, low impacts to vegetation, and overall lower construction and operating costs.

The public is invited to submit comments regarding adverse impacts that might result from the proposed amendment.
