Public advisory: Delivery of a large mobile crane to Hudson’s Hope
Categories: BC, Hydroelectricity
A large mobile crane is being delivered to our work area in Hudson’s Hope as part of our work on the Hudson’s Hope shoreline protection berm. The crane is expected to arrive on or around Thursday, October 6, 2022.
The crane will be delivered with a pilot car via Highway 29 and will include support vehicles with additional components to be assembled on site.
Drivers travelling between Hudson’s Hope and Fort St. John are asked to have patience and exercise caution if they encounter the transport vehicles on Highway 29.
The crane will be set-up temporarily on the berm to lift large concrete culverts into place over five to seven days.
Upon completion of the culvert installation, the crane will be dismantled and removed from our work area.
The Hudson’s Hope shoreline protection berm is a 2.6 kilometre long barrier made of riprap, rocks and gravel. It will reinforce the shoreline and protect it from potential erosion once the Site C reservoir is filled. The berm begins on the shoreline of the Peace River on the western end of town, and will extend downstream, past the municipal sewage treatment facility. Construction of the berm will continue until the end of 2022.
What to expect
- Slow moving, large vehicles travelling on Highway 29.
- Drivers are asked to have patience and exercise caution.
- Once set-up, the crane may be visible to residents near our work area.
