Categories: IBEW, IBEW 2228, Ontario

Members of IBEW 2228,

I am pleased to announce that the proposed Bylaws have been approved by a majority of votes cast at Unit Meetings. I appreciate the efforts of our Unit Officers for conducting these votes. I also appreciate the members who took the time to consider the changes and attend meetings to cast votes on this document which will bring more transparency to our operations. I will now send these new Bylaws and the results of our voting to the IBEW International for their approval.

Following these new Bylaws we have also prepared a new Policy Manual. This will be posted onto the secure side of the website today so that all of you, our membership, will have time to review this document and all the changes. I encourage members to review this as there are a significant number of changes. I plan to submit a motion at the next Unit meeting I attend to have this new Policy Manual approved. After approval at a meeting it will go out to all Units for approval with voting instructions for Unit Officers. I anticipate a voting deadline of March 1st . Please send me any questions or comments about this document. I also hope to hold a general meeting early next year to offer a forum to discuss this if there is demand.

I have also finished the summary of our last Executive board meeting, received it back from translation and this will be posted today on the secure side of the website. Aside from an update on all work performed at that meeting, there is also a broad description of the policy manual changes in that document. Please have a look, please stay informed.

Thank you,
In solidarity,
Jeff Wendt
President, IBEW Local 2228
