IBEW 993 members were out in the lot at the Kamloops Hall recently taking part in Aerial Work Platform (AWP) training. This hands on training helps ensure members are prepared to work safely and confidently when operating elevated work platforms on the jobsite.
Training plays a critical role in keeping our members safe. Proper instruction reduces the risk of injury, improves jobsite awareness, and helps ensure that work is done to the highest professional standard. When members are well trained, everyone benefits, including workers, contractors, and the public.
IBEW 993 has been doing a significant amount of training recently as part of our ongoing effort to get all members up to date with our Job Ready Dispatch (JRD) requirements. These courses help make sure members are ready to go to work when dispatch opportunities come up, without delays or missed calls.
Members who do not currently have their SiteReadyBC (or CSTS and WHMIS), AWP, Fall Arrest, and a current hearing test are encouraged to look into getting this training as soon as possible. All of these are now mandatory requirements for being cleared out to work.
If you are unsure about your current certifications or need help getting signed up for upcoming training, please contact the hall. Staying current keeps you job ready, improves safety on site, and helps IBEW members continue to show up better on every project.
