“We’re thrilled to receive TDA status for our 309A Construction and Maintenance Electricians Trades School,” said Craig Peterson, Business Manager of Local 402. “This recognition not only validates the hard work and dedication of our team but also opens up new avenues for individuals seeking a rewarding career in the electrical industry.”
This achievement marks another significant milestone for the IBEW in Ontario. Local 402 joins the ranks as the third IBEW Local to receive TDA status for the 309A Electrician Construction and Maintenance program, following Local 586 Ottawa and Local 804 Kitchener.
“Special thanks to previous Minister McNaughton for his commitment to our shared vision and putting this in motion with Ottawa and Kitchener as trade delivery agents, (TDA’s) of the 309 A Construction and Maintenance program,” said James Barry, Executive Secretary Treasurer IBEW CCO. “Also, thanks to the current Minister David Picinni for recognizing the continued value of local unions providing training in the electrical Industry and continuing our strong partnership. The journey was two years in the making and was well worth the wait. We are also pleased that the government of Ontario recognizes the importance of building a strong apprenticeship system not only in Thunder Bay but across the province.”
The IBEW Construction Council, representing 11 Local Unions across Ontario, is proud to serve 20,000 electricians, powerline technicians, and network cabling specialists. This accomplishment underscores the commitment of Local 402 and the collective dedication of the IBEW to excellence in Ontario’s electrical industry.
