IBEW 993 Sponsors 2026 Wiener Dog Races at Kamloops Storm Game

IBEW Local 993 is proud to be a major sponsor of the 2026 Wiener Dog Races, taking place during the Kamloops Storm vs Merritt Centennials game on February 7, 2026, at the McArthur Island Sports Centre in Kamloops.

This popular event has become a highlight of the Storm’s season and a great way to bring together union members, families, and the wider community for a night of hockey and entertainment. Few things get a crowd going like a group of determined dachshunds racing across the ice.

For IBEW 993, supporting events like this is about more than fun, although there will be plenty of that. It is about showing that union members are an active and positive part of the communities where we live and work. It gives us a chance to connect with the public in a relaxed setting and to show the values of solidarity, fairness, and mutual support that define our union.

It is also an opportunity for our own members to get together outside of the job site, spend time with their families, and enjoy an event that celebrates what it means to stand shoulder to shoulder with other working people.
