The Canadian Airports Electrical Association (CAEA)—in collaboration with Edmonton International Airport—is hosting the 2025 Canadian Airports National Electrical Workshop (a.k.a. CANEW) at the Westin Edmonton, September 21-26, 2026.
The workshop serves as a platform to address electrical issues at airports, deliver specialized airport electrical training, and facilitate the exchange of ideas among airport technical staff. The goal is to enhance electrical safety and training for workers, facilities, and the public at airports in Canada and abroad.
CANEW attracts delegates from Canada, the United States, Europe, Australia, and China, as well as representatives from National Defence Canada and Transport Canada.
Presentations will focus on topics such as maintaining airport building electrical systems, airfield infrastructure, energy management, and renewable energy systems.
In collaboration with partner companies and airport staff, CANEW will again provide hands-on training sessions—and attendance documentation—for some of the specialized equipment and procedures that electrical staff encounter at airports.
During plenary sessions, delegates have the opportunity to introduce topics for group discussion, which could include seeking advice or offering solutions.
A one-day tradeshow will be conducted September 24, where delegates can meet suppliers and equipment manufacturers to see the latest technologies. CANEW says many delegates use this opportunity to establish contacts and make arrangements for equipment purchases.
