call for ITF applications

The Executive Board is seeking a member in good standing to participate as an observer for the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) in the Sub-Committee on Navigation, Communications and Search and Rescue (NCSR) meeting. This session will take place from 22 – 26 June 2026 at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) headquarters, 4 Albert Embankment, London, SE1 7SR.
Ideal candidates should possess a strong working knowledge of maritime navigation systems, radiocommunications, and Search and Rescue (SAR) infrastructure from both a technical and regulatory perspective. If selected, the participant may be expected to contribute to or observe discussions in the following key areas:
- Navigation and Bridge Equipment: Standards for electronic charts, sensors, and positioning systems.
- Modernization of the GMDSS: Enhancements to Global Maritime Distress and Safety Systems.
- Search and Rescue (SAR) Coordination: Improving international response and SAR technology.
- E-Navigation: Implementation and harmonization of digital maritime services.
Reporting Requirement:
The selected participant will be required to provide a written report to the Executive Board summarizing key discussions, outcomes, and any items of relevance to our interests following the conclusion of the meeting.
