BC Indiginous Apprenticeship Forum – IBEW 1003

Categories: BC, IBEW, Local 1003

Posting a quick note to tell everyone about the successful BC Indigenous Apprenticeship Forum in Burnaby earlier this May which I was very proud to attend to represent IBEW 1003. It was an extremely important conference, learning about all of the different ISETs across BC and opportunities for partnerships. We now have direct contacts for every ISET across the Province and can connect for future training and employment opportunities.

It was also nice to see the existing presence of the BC Building Trades – so many people were in union swag showing their pride in their trade and their union.

Special shout out to:
Tom Miller, Leslie Yellowknee, Jim Lofty and Abigail Franson for their participation on the panel of how to work with unions. They were fantastic ambassadors for the BC Building Trades and the panel has led to many follow-up meetings for us to discuss future partnerships.
Farid Poursoltani and Rob Sheck for hosting fabulous tours of the EJTC and the Heat & Frost Training Centre.
