Bargaining update #1 – Hydro Pontiac Services Inc.

Categories: IBEW, IBEW 2228, Ontario

Local 2228 began collective bargaining this week in Gatineau, with Hydro Pontiac Services Inc. While a tentative agreement has not yet been reached, the parties have converged on several issues, notably benefits, leave, and premiums. The only item still outstanding is wages, where we continue to work to close the gap between the parties’ positions.

Our objectives remain unchanged: catch up, keep up, and move ahead of the rising cost of living, and secure wages that reflect the dignity and respect you deserve. Your bargaining team heard your message clearly—and we intend to make sure your employer hears it just as clearly.

We are making plans to meet in the new year for a second round of bargaining.

In solidarity,

Donald Dionne

Eastern Canada Business Representative

Our bargaining unit at Hydro Pontiac Services Inc. is located near Fort-Coulonge in Québec’s Outaouais region, about 120km drive West of Gatineau. Your Brothers maintain hydroelectric power plants that secure electricity for the surrounding communities. Our bargaining history goes back more than 20 years, and their current 5-year arbitration award in lieu of a collective agreement is up for renewal on January 31, 2026.
